Now is your chance to make the GM game this year even better than last year. Proposed implementations for this year (2007)

Draft rankings: You will be able to rank draft prospects for the draft that way when it is your turn to pick, the DraftBot can pick for you hence expiditing the draft. If you do not rank and the time has past, the DraftBot will pick the highest ranked prospect.

Re-signing Players a team can use up to 1/3 of the cap to re-sign a player on their roster that is a free agent.

Voting Application at the end of the season, GMs and Agents will be able to cast votes in order to determine the winner of the game.

Veterans Exception each team will get a veterans exception are applicable to players who have been cut.

Added 1/30/2007...

No More Position Limitations GM/Agent Comments Allows GMs and Agent to post comments/notes about their players, the moves they would like to make, etc...

GM activity measurements will be used to determine whose active and whose not.

Marking Players as Untradeable this will prevent trade proposals that a GM would never agree to from the beginning. You´ll have to convince the GM to uplift the untradeable. only bse contract players can be marked as untradeable.

Private Messaging This will allow GMs and Agents to communicate more frequently for those that do not check email as much as they should

**New Agent Features**
Agents will be allowed to send the same offer to teams that qualify for that offer for a player.

Agents will have a quick glance at teams that can afford their cleints
Added 3/5/2007
Agents will be measured on how much they make for their clients. This will be part of the measurement of how well an agent does in the game this year.

Wani please can you do the coaching suggestion that I made last year? You said you would try to implement it into this year´s game so don´t go back on your word. :)

You should have a thing where if a gm is inactive for a certain amount of time they automatically get booted from being gm. No one wants a gm who will not be active.

how would you systematically determine a GM has been inactive? I don´t think it was bad last year with credible members participating.

I think I do remember you saying something to that matter... What did you propose about coaches? Do you want to be able to fire a coach and then appoint a new coach? How would that be controlled? ie where would I get a list of available coaches? I´m listening...

It was something along the lines of people being able to have the ability to fire a coach they don´t want anymore. Then we could possibly have one or maybe two people be like the coaches agents and only contact through e-mail I suggest since it would be a lot of work to represent all of the coaches through AIM. I don´t think any salary is necessary and coaches should decide which team they want to coach based on players and not money (Larry Brown). I this will be disagreed with by many, but I think that coaches should have the choice to resign as head coach for whatever reason with partial approval by either the Commish or Team. A list of current NBA head coaches with their teams is here.. Eastern Conference Team Head Coach Atlanta Hawks Mike Woodson Boston Celtics Doc Rivers Charlotte Bobcats Bernie Bickerstaff Chicago Bulls Scott Skiles Cleveland Cavaliers Mike Brown Detroit Pistons Flip Saunders Indiana Pacers Rick Carlisle Miami Heat Ron Rothstein Milwaukee Bucks Terry Stotts New Jersey Nets Lawrence Frank New York Knicks Isiah Thomas Orlando Magic Brian Hill Philadelphia 76ers Maurice Cheeks Toronto Raptors Sam Mitchell Washington Wizards Eddie Jordan Western Conference Team Head Coach Dallas Mavericks Avery Johnson Denver Nuggets George Karl Golden State Warriors Don Nelson Houston Rockets Jeff Van Gundy Los Angeles Clippers Mike Dunleavy Sr. Los Angeles Lakers Phil Jackson Memphis Grizzlies Tony Barone Minnesota Timberwolves Randy Wittman New Orleans/Okla. City Hornets Byron Scott Phoenix Suns Mike D´Antoni Portland Trail Blazers Nate McMillan Sacramento Kings Eric Musselman San Antonio Spurs Gregg Popovich Seattle SuperSonics Bob Hill Utah Jazz Jerry Sloan --- The way I also think we should have the current unemployed NBA head coaches would be to have people submit a coach name by a certain deadline if they want them included in the game. Any name not submitted by then will not be included into the game. Any suggestions to make this better would help.

Any suggestions? Where do i start... 1. MOST IMPORTANT RULE OF ALL and i know everyone who played last year will agree. LET US PICK W/E POSITIONS WE WANT. Last year the position limitations annoyed the GM´s, and you (wani). You got tired of changing them, and it annoyed us when we couldnt put the players where wanted. -FOR example..i was thinking about playing small ball and having J-Rich at the SF, but his position was only a guard so i couldnt. Just make all the positions eligble for every player so we can make the roster how we want. If we wanna play like Pheonix then so be it. 2. NO WAIT ON TRADING. This screws up pretty much the whole game and results in inactivity. the 18 hour trade grace period was a good start, but i think u should just eliminate that whole thing wani cause its a bitch sometimes. I dont even know how the game lasted as long as it did 2 years ago with the 3 day rule. -Some guys u make AIM deals with are not online often so the 18 hours is pretty worthless when ur making a deal with one of them..thats why there shouldnt be any waiting rule. 3. Agree with the inactivity booting thing. It doesnt have to be like a week with inactivity cause thats OK..but like last year some GM´s were gone and never left a post saying why or anything. -We should have a mid-game vote based on activity to boot GM´s off if they havent made any TRANSACTIONS. Thats how u tell if a GM has been active cause in this game if u make less than 10 (even thats pushing it) transactions then they´re obviously not playing. -If enough GM´s say yes to booting someone b/c of GOOD reason not just personal reasons than we should take that into consideration. 4. Agree on the coaching thing, but maybe have a tier system like u do with FA´s and have a small attached salary so u cant get Phil Jackson or Greg Poppovich for free and the bad teams get stuck with Mike Woodson. 5. Kinda ties onto the inactivity, but how bout we require an AIM sn for ALL gm´s. I know some of you older guys think e-mail is fast but in today´s world it is the snail mail of the computer. AIM is instant and right to the point so u can negotiate without having to wait hours for a response only to find that you have to respond back to clear up what u said the first time.

i like the using of AIM for sure, but how about since some guys dont go on it quite as much as others, we have a delegated time for everyone to go on. kinda like a GM´s meeting. maybe like a weekly thing so everyone can talk at once. cause usually you end up with the same guys out there and never get the chance to talk to everybody.

benwallace3 suggestions: 1. I will uplift the position limitations 2. The no wait on trading will stay as is! I am trying to be realistic in simulating the real NBA. You have 18 hours after a trade goes thru to make a trade!! then you can´t trade them for another few days. I think it went smoothly last year. 3. GM activity - I will make the activities of a GM more public by measuring their activity. That´s the only way we can truly determine whether or not a GM is active or not. 4. Coaches have agents? lol we are entering a whole new realm here. I will consider but it´s not as definite for this years games. 5. AIM can never be a requirement. I am hoping with the new message board, I can incorporate a Whose Online Now, but even that I feel is an invasion of privacy. All these suggestions are great. Keep them coming

I was thinking for now to be allowed to fire a coach and pick from a list of assistant and former coaches in the league. Money won´t be an issue at this point, but just to be able to list your coach would make the game more realistic in a sense...

DumarsFan the game usually starts the beginning of summer vacation (for us still in school :) around may or june i think. But if the system is the same as last year, u have to be either all-star or hall-of-famer status to have first dibs on the teams for security reasons so post away.

Also I just had an idea that popped up in my head. How bout on every team´s page there is a comment box where teams can post what type of moves they are looking to make or anything else they have to say. i.e. Stop offering lopsided trades. Kobe is untouchable, I´m looking to move blank for a serviceable pg. I think it would be a good idea and it doesn´t hurt any part of the game.

JoeBuddy, ANother great suggestion. It will keep the message board clear, it will also allow you to enter alternative contact information and keep people posted on your schedule. I could have sworn last year I implemented an untradeable feature, that you could use to make sure a player you know you don´t want to be traded can´t be included in any trade talk....

By Gods grace I want to start accepting donations by the spring, and with a donation you can also reserve a team if you do not meet the member status. We will see how far I can get with this

Can i go further on the comment box thing? How bout an open comment box for every team that OTHER gm´s fill with comments on interests they might have from the respective owner´s team. FOr example, If i was Detroit and only used e-mail and did not check it often but still check pistonstalk.com often teams can leave me private messages so i will be more likely to see them rather than check my e-mail 3 days later and find out someone was interested in a player who is now gone.

i think thatll be a small but VERY important step in the progression of the game wani. As long as the alerts for new messages are clear and noticeable i think more trades will happen this year as opposed to the last 2.

Another I just though of... Don´t release the agent´s contact until the legal time allowed to talk to agents. That way we can semi-prevent snooping around.

Joe, That was implemented last year, the only players that could be represented by agents where players that were not on teams the previous salary cap season. I think it workd out last year

wani i dont think agents should be measured on how much they make.  Then every agent will take the highest offer no matter of the fit.  It should take into account other factors like team success, etc.

hey no need to worry, about that. It"s all about checks and balances. A GM"s objective will be to have a team with the highest efficiency while staying under the cap so with that in mind, GMs won"t be offering bogus contracts to players. Besides an agents objective is to look for the most money for their client. It"s going to be an interesting year.
